St Helier Ward Priorities |
||
|
Good morning St Helier residents,
Last week, Thursday 13th November 2025, we held the St Helier Ward Panel meeting. A number of local concerns were discussed at the meeting and the attendance and participation of local residents was fantastic to see. The next ward panel is scheduled for Thursday 26th February 2026 at 1900 at the Merton & Morden Guild, 34a Aberconway Road, SM4 5LF.
During the ward panel this time around we agreed on 3 local priorities for the ward policing team. These are; - Burglary - Motor Vehicle Crime - Shoplifting and violence towards shop staff
In the coming weeks PC Goksal is putting together a pro-active operation around Motor Vehicle crime, which often links into burglary offences. Additional patrols and officers will be deployed on peak days and times around the area. These times are typically in the early hours of the morning, so you may not see us but we will be there. If you notice any suspicious behaviour please let us know so we can build that into our intelligence.
For shoplifting offences we have run and will continue to run a number of operations around Morden Town Centre targeting shoplifting, and other crime in the area. We had a great piece of work going in the spring of 2025 and managed to reduce theft offences in the area by 41%, these have however started to increase again but we remain comitted to tackling such offences. In the last one month we have arrested persons and charged persons for a number of offences in the Town Centre. Some of these include; Burglary, shoplifting, criminal damage, assault, racially aggravated public order, fraud and drugs offences.
If you ever see one of our team on foot patrol then please come and say hello and we would be delighted to speak further.
We look forwards to seeing you around St Helier and also on the ward panel on 26th February.
Kind Regards,
St Helier Ward Team
